I'm sitting here tonight contemplating the fact that my "baby" will start her senior year tomorrow. I've have raised two "babies" - Robbie was my first baby - it was a bit traumatic for me when he began the journey toward leaving home and growing up, but now... I'm doing this one more time and I have to admit that it is even harder. But I am excited for Jess and for what God has planned for her. She was an unexpected gift from the Lord and we have all had a hand in raising her and loving her - now we can be proud of the godly young woman she has become. We love you, Jess!

here are my thoughts

as some of you very well may know...magnolia school district, mostly high school, have been expierencing teacher misconduct in school...we have had 3 teachers arrested in the past 3 years for misconduct with students...here is some this you should probably read..

Our View: TEA official is right -- parents, and students willing to speak out, are still the best defense against teacher misconduct.

If recent cases involving alleged sexual misconduct by teachers have shown us anything, it's that the standard tool for protecting students -- rigorous background checks -- cannot predict the behavior of teachers with no criminal record.
Only increased awareness and heightened vigilance by everyone, from school officials to parents to students themselves, can prevent sexual misconduct by teachers or at least stop it once it occurs.
In the most recent incident, Lisa Minchew, a former Magnolia High School art teacher, was arrested recently on three counts of sexual assault of a child, stemming from three alleged sexual incidents with two boys between the ages of 14 and 16 that occurred in early July. She had no criminal record of sexual misconduct.
Minchew is just the latest teacher or school staff member to face sexual misconduct charges. Other recent incidents include:
-- Felicia Shupp, a teacher and volleyball coach at McCullough and The Woodlands high schools, was arrested in 2001 for sexual assault stemming from an ongoing relationship with a female student. Shupp pleaded guilty later that year and received seven years' deferred adjudication, 45 days in the Montgomery County Jail and was required to register as a sex offender.
-- In 2004, Hogan Tebbs Brooks, a former Creighton Elementary School teacher, was arrested by federal agents and charged with attempting to entice a minor over the Internet plus five counts of possession of child pornography. He pleaded guilty to the enticement charge last year and is currently serving a six-year sentence in federal prison.
-- Donald Paul Mauro, a former Conroe Independent School District Police officer, was found guilty last year of nine counts of indecency by exposure with a child, sexual assault of a child and improper relationship of an educator with a student. He is currently serving 44 years in prison.
-- Last year, Thomas Allen Mayes, a former Magnolia High School coach and teacher, was arrested for sexual assault of a child and for having an improper relationship with a student.
Guarding against future sexual misconduct involves a two-fold approach: strict enforcement and punishment for offenders, and constant efforts to encourage open lines of communication between parents, students and school officials through tools like Conroe ISD's Kid Chat, a hotline over which students can place calls anonymously reporting allegations of crime. In addition, parents need to be talking with their children and making every attempt to be aware of what's going on in their lives, so those students feel comfortable sharing information. As Chris Jones, head of enforcement for the Texas Education Agency, recently told The Courier: ''I don't know if a school district can do as much as parents can; if kids are not comfortable in going to their parents, they're not going to any adult. Parents need to have open lines of communication with their kids. It's their duty. A school district can't do all the parenting."

i thought the school was a safe place

I know im just a senior but i am sick and tired of teachers being perverted. for some students school is the only place that they can go to get away from abuse of any kind at their home...then they go to school now and get abused even more...this is what pushes kids to the limit of wanting to end their life because they have nothing left...i am not going to stand for any of this..i will straight up tell the teacher that i know whats going on and i will contact the authorities. i have had a teacher who made my happier and i have also had one that made me feel like crap...so teachers have the power to end your life or make a whole new beginning with a future..

Justus' Bday-Kathleen's Visit

Hey family!
I wanted to let you know that we are flying Kathleen in for a visit on the weekend of the 25th-27th of this month. (This is also Kathleen's birthday!)
I wanted to see if y'all are available to come to Mom and Dad's and celebrate with us on Sat. the 26th. Let me know. We will swim, cook-out, and have an informal birthday party.
Rob, I know is gone (rock stars!), and Liz is available, but Chris and Lisa? B and Amy, I know you probably can't make it, but we will miss you. Maybe we can do that computer thing again. I wish you could meet Kathleen.
This is going to be a weekend to minister to her, so please pray for that.
jenn
By the way, we didn't just paint his face up like aborigine baby in the pic...this was a Camp Ozark thing. He was Osage baby! Isn't he cute! And though he wore a helmet to do the ropes course, and begged to do it like Emma, we told him maybe next year! ha!

700Seays

700Seays

We are alive!!!

We have been very blessed this week during our trip to Abaco. It did have a scary start though and I will try to tell the whole story later. But the short version is a teenage girl was bitten by a shark on our first day at this beach. I was the closest person to them and I rushed to pull the girl in (after passing off Christian) she had a chunk taken from her forearm and was losing alot of blood. I wass pulling her out and putting pressure on the wound while my good friend Greg (Pastor in St Louis) got a towel to wrap around her arm. They got her stitched up and medjeted to the US, the word is that she is doing fine. But it was a little scary.

We are staying on one of the top 10 beaches in the world and it is amazing!!! I'll try to post pictures when I get our cable.

Here is a picture of the family from Nassau Hilton where we stayed for two weeks. We loveand miss you all!!

seay's in glen rose

i know it appears to be somewhat of a miracle, me writing a blog here and all.
but i'm not as aloof as my appearance gives off.
after reading through the posts, i couldn't help but write a bit.

we're at home this week after spending a week in glen rose, tx.
rsb was playing a camp there but we persuaded the camp to rent us a vacation cottage off the square in the city for seay clan to occupy. we had a blast. it was a nice, simple place where liz could relax some and get recharged. i don't know what the big deal is for her..its just 3 kids under 4 years..but apparently she been needing a break.
the kids loved being on a trip with the band. we played drums, played outside, climbed on the bunkbeds, walked to the square each morning to eat pancakes, ran the bases at the local high school baseball field, etc.etc..
it was great! attached are pictures of the little people..that fat baby is cute, huh?

now i've got a few days here before heading out on a 2 week tour with our friend jill paquette. she's from canada. she sings good. should be a great tour in the southeast and midwest. when we get back, it will be studio time for rsb in the month of september.

well..much love from this seay clan to yours.
i'll write again next year

Eliana's 2nd Birthday

eliana had such a fun polka dot party!
we missed all the cousins though!
we wished you all could have been there.
we had italian food and a polka dot birthday cake.
nana and pop pop gave elle a cute outfit and a cool bike.
she loves them both!
but i must say she was most impressed with the ten dollar bill nonny and poppa gave her!
we didn't even think she would realize what is was when she opened it?
but she studied it closely and smiled really big so we could take her picture with it.
she was quite a hoot! not to mention she picked her nose while we sang her "happy birthday!
